My first podcast. Oh, and some other news...
I had the pleasure of being a guest on my first ever podcast, Keeping the Beacon Lit, hosted by author A.B. Timothy with myself and author Noah Ray as guests (see link below, fast forward to about 25 minute mark). Also, coincidentally, it was the first ever podcast for KTBL.
I surprisingly wasn’t the least bit nervous throughout, though I’ve learned I evidently don’t have the “stage fright” that many talk about. It was a lot of fun and we got to talk about what kept us going when we didn’t feel like writing.
I won’t delve too much into it here, but for me, editing/revisions was by far the most difficult part. In the past, that’s what’s done me in. I’ve learned some tricks to keep going, though it still isn’t easy.

A few other items to address briefly.
I apologize for not sending out newsletters for regularly. My schedule has been quite unpredictable as of late, with the book launch, among other things
I joined book funnel recently, and they do require that we send links out to our newsletter subscribers anytime we are in a group promo, hence the links I’ve been sending lately. (bonus: you get to check out some cool indie titles and in some cases, get free books during giveaways)
I’m debating changing my newsletter platform to accommodate a larger subscriber base. (Beehiiv is great, but the paid plan isn’t going to pay for itself for an indie author like me). There are other platforms that are more scalable and simpler to use. Though, you probably won’t notice a difference, other than the newsletter announcements coming from a different sender.
Made it this far? Here’s the big news… I’m almost done with the Rivo prequel, Franko: Blade of the Shattered Star. I finished the first draft, handed it off to a few beta readers, and am in the process of making revisions. I plan to sit on it for a few weeks to let it bake and see if there are other changed to be made before sending to another beta reader, and then, the editor.
That’s all there is. Have a wonderful rest of your day!
Matt
